Van Persie: Van Gaal vital for Netherlands

The Manchester United star has hailed his national team coach as a fine motivator and believes he is flourishing with the attacking movement around him
Robin van Persie has hailed Louis van Gaal's role in Netherlands' successful 2014 World Cup qualification campaign so far.

The 2010 World Cup finalists top Group D with 18 points from six games following Tuesday's 4-0 win over Romania, and need only two wins from their remaining four matches in order to book their ticket for next year's tournament in Brazil.

"Louis van Gaal knows how to approach and move each player. He's very clear toward all of us and motivates the team very well," Van Persie told SBS 6.

"We will have to keep on doing what we do best, even if things are going a little less smooth at some point in the future."

The Manchester United man then went on to express his delight with Netherlands' positive approach under Van Gaal.

"I like the way we play with a lot of movement around me. That's what I'm used to at club level as well. Rafael [van der Vaart] is a bit like [Wayne] Rooney at United. He plays just behind me. I like our attacking approach."

Netherlands resume qualification action away against Estonia on September 6.
