Celta Vigo have replaced coach Paco Herrera with Abel Resino.
Os Celestes slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Getafe last week and sit 18th in La Liga, four points adrift of safety.
“Celta have closed negotiations for Abel Resino to be coach of the first team,” read an official statement on the club's website.
“He replaces Paco Herrera on the bench, who the club want to convey their appreciation to for his hard work in recent seasons and the unforgettable promotion achieved last season.”
However Herrera, who took Celta back into the top flight after five seasons in La Segunda, was left in the dark about his dismissal this morning.
“Unfortunately, still nobody from the club has called me. After almost three years, I think out of respect they should have communicated something,” the 59-year-old told EFE on Monday.
New Celta boss Resino will be looking to recreate last season's heroics, when he guided Granada to safety helping them avoid relegation on the final day.
The two sides meet next week at Balaidos.
