The Selecao star has reflected on his side's successful European campaign so far, and given his thoughts on the knockout clash against Borussia Dortmund

By Fernando H. Ahuvia

Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian says the Ukrainians are determined to reach the final of the Champions League.

The team coached by Mircea Lucescu advanced from Group E in second place behind Juventus, and will now face Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund in the knockout stages.

"Our goal is to go step by step to maybe reach the final of the Champions League," the 24-year-old told Goal.com.

"Expectations are high. We know that the team of Borussia is very qualified, have good players, are doing successfully and managed to qualify in first place in a very strong group.

"But we also know our quality and we have chances to go far. We need to analyse their team well and come with full concentration, since we know that both games will be very difficult."

Willian had few opportunities to play for Brazil while Mano Menezes was in charge, but is hopeful that the Felipe Scolari's appointment could give him more chances to excel for the Selecao.

He added: "I believe that everything starts from scratch when changing a coach. All players want to show their best to claim their place again."

Meanwhile, he revealed that although he is feeling at home in the Ukraine, he may consider a return to his former club Corinthians in the future.

"My goal is to continue in Europe, but never rule out a return to Brazil. Brazilian football is growing considerably. Each team has at least three players of great quality.

"Corinthians is the team that showed me everything, I have great affection for them.
It is still early to talk about it, but I certainly plan to return one day to the club."
