The 31-year-old signed for Qatari club Al-Gharafa after becoming disillusioned with the lack of playing opportunities at the Ligue 1 side under Carlo Ancelotti, in spite of being their top scorer with 21 league goals the previous term.
But the Brazilian displayed no hint of bitterness as he took to the pitch to rapturous applause from 32,000 fans, when he paid them a surprise visit during half-time of his former club's routine 3-1 victory over Toulouse on Wednesday.
"I had some fantastic moments at Paris Saint-Germain and it has been very emotional tonight," Nene smiled to PSG TV. "The fans showed me a lot of love here.
"The club will always have a place in my heart, so I just needed to drop by and say so to the fans and my former teammates one last time."
Nene, who made over 100 appearances for PSG, had been expected to return to his homeland amid interest from Santos and Corinthians, but both teams failed to convince the Parisians to release the player.
