El Shaarawy: AC Milan were unlucky against Juventus
The young attacker has voiced his disappointment with the San Siro side's defeat, and has urged his team-mates to turn their focus to Serie A again
Stephan El Shaarawy believes that AC Milan were unlucky to lose Wednesday's Coppa Italia quarter-final away against Juventus as he feels they put in a good performance. The young attacker gifted the Rossoneri an early lead, but Sebastian Giovinco levelled the scoring shortly after, before Mirko Vucinic netted in extra time to make it 2-1.
"I’m happy with my goal and our performance. We played a good game and created a lot of chances. Their second goal came from a bit of unlucky deflection for us," El Shaarawy was quoted as saying on the Milan website.
"It’s a disappointing loss. We held our own well and defended well. We didn’t concede any really big chances, but they did well technically especially when Vucinic came on and then scored.
"Now we have to get back to work on Sunday, which is a fundamental game for the league to stay in the race for the top spots in the table."
Milan resume match action away from home against Sampdoria at the weekend.
