Fred secured a narrow GOTW victory with just over 36 per cent of the vote following his improvised finish for Brazil versus Argentina.
The former Lyon striker finished ahead of Yojiro Takahagi, who scored for Sanfrecce Hiroshima versus Cerezo Osaka while Central Coast Mariners' Massimo Murdocca scooped third spot.
