Wes Hoolahan is "unable" to answer Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni's call-up for the friendly against Serbia in Belgrade due to injury.
The Norwich City midfielder has suffered an Achilles flare up and cannot therefore replace the injured Darron Gibson in the squad for Wednesday's encounter.
Hoolahan was drafted in by Trapattoni on Friday evening as a replacement for the Everton man and has not played for his country since 2008.
The FAI disclosed that Hoolahan was "disappointed" to be ruled out but that this period requires rest with the Premier League season on the horizon.
