thumbnail Hello,

The Austrian is optimistic of maintaining the heady atmosphere within the squad, but reminds his team-mates they must maintain a high level of football in order to preserve it

Marko Arnautovic is raring to go ahead of the new season following Werder Bremen's triumph in the Liga Total! cup, and is hopeful of building upon the good spirits residing in the team's pre-season camp.

The Weserstadion outfit are eager to make amends for their disappointing ninth-placed finish in the Bundesliga last season, and have brought in the likes of Eljero Elia, Nils Petersen and Kevin De Bruyne to reinforce Thomas Schaaf's squad.

"I have typically good feelings for the start of the new season," the 23-year-old Austria international told Kreiszeitung.

"We have an excellent team. The side works well in fun ways, but naturally that will depend on us producing good performances in the campaign ahead, or that could disappear.

"The coach has given us excellent feelings since our first day, which is important since we are a young side. De Bruyne is an excellent acquisition. The competition is good and does not upset me; he is here to help us."

An increasing onus will be placed on Arnautovic, who has formerly featured for Twente and Inter, to lead the line following Claudio Pizarro's summer departure to Bayern Munich.
