The Italy international is continually being linked with a move away from the Sicilians, and it now appears to be only a matter of time before the left-back completes his transfer to the Stadio Olimpico side.
Roma coach Zdenek Zeman is eager to add some fresh blood to his defence, and he has made the 30-year-old defender his primary transfer target.
Balzaretti started his professional career with Torino, and also wore the jerseys of Varese, Siena, Juventus and Fiorentina before joining Palermo in the summer of 2008.
He has since developed into a key player for the Rosaneri, and has attracted the interest of Roma as a result.
The left-back snubbed a move to Napoli at the end of July, while clubs such as AC Milan, Juventus, Lazio and Paris Sain-Germain were also keeping tabs on him.
