thumbnail Hello,

The Malaysian custodian is bracing himself for a tougher match against the likes of Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero from the visiting Premier League champions

After catching the eye of Arsene Wenger in Malaysia’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal last week, national goalkeeper Farizal Marlias can expect to be in the spotlight again when his side play Manchester City at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil Stadium on Monday.

During the match against the Gunners last Tuesday, Farizal put in a man-of-the-match performance with a number of crucial saves to keep Malaysia in the game and his composed performance prompted Wenger to praise the 26-year-old.

Farizal however, is refusing to let the praise get to his head and is preparing himself for another testing match against the Citizens, who are the reigning English Premier League (EPL) champions.

“I know the task is going to be more difficult this time,” the Pahang native was quoted as saying in local daily The Star.

“The City side has a more formidable forward line, which is led by Argentines Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero. The two need no introduction and I have seen them score so many times in the EPL last season.”

With regular number one Khairul Fahmi Che Mat still recovering from a knee injury, the former Shahzan Muda and Perlis player is almost certain to start in Monday’s match and will definitely need to be at his best once more against City’s world class forwards.

City arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday after defeating Arsenal 2-0 in Beijing on Friday.
