Sampdoria confirm interest in Estigarribia
The Blucerchiati are hoping that the 24-year-old Paraguay international, who lined up for Juventus last term, can be persuaded to remain in Serie A
Sampdoria director Pasquale Sensibile has admitted that the club are interested in signing Deportivo Maldonado winger Marcelo Estigarribia. The newly-promoted outfit are looking to strengthen their forward line ahead of the new season and believe that Paraguay international, who spent last season on loan at Juventus, ticks all of the boxes.
“We need a wide man for the attacking trident,” Sensibile told Primocanale Sport.
“Estigarribia has the characteristics of the type of player we are looking for.”
Estigarribia, who has been capped 28 times by his country, joined the Bianconeri on loan last summer with a view to a permanent switch at the end of the season.
The Old Lady ultimately decided against signing the 24-year-old, who made just 14 appearances in Serie A, scoring one goal.
