The shot-shy Reds are the visitors to Park Hall in Tuesday's Uefa Champions League clash and Willie Duncan expects Age Hareide's side to take a narrow advantage back to Sweden
League of Wales champions The New Saints face a tough assignment when they lock horns Swedish champions Helsingborgs in the second qualifying round of this season’s Uefa Champions League at Park Hall on Tuesday.
Craig Harrison’s side may have the benefit of home advantage for the first leg but they are still very much the underdogs for this clash with Bet365 offering 6/1 (7.0) that the Welsh side can take a lead into next week’s return fixture in Sweden.
While TNS have yet to get their season under way, Helsingborgs are in full swing in their domestic league, having played 15 league matches.
Age Hareide’s men have been in impressive form of late, stringing together an unbeaten run of eight matches in all competitions so it is little surprise to see them chalked up as short price favourites at 4/9 (1.44) with Bet365 to seize the initiative in the tie with victory here.
The same firm rates the draw as a 100/30 (4.33) chance.
The Reds will be in confident mood, then, ahead of this clash but they have led just once at half-time in seven away matches so far this term so the juicy 3/1 (4.0) quote from Bet365 for the match to be level at half-time with the Swedish side emerging victorious in the second period looks to be an excellent proposition for punters.
It is also worth noting that despite sitting third in the Allsvenskan table, Hareide’s side have the third lowest average goal tally in the Swedish league with their matches producing a paltry average return of just 2.13 goals per match.
With TNS unlikely to trouble the experienced Helsingborgs defence, Bet365’s offer of 8/15 (1.53) for fewer than two goals appeals here but better value lies with the 7/1 (8.0) quote from Bet365 for the Swedes to take a 1-0 lead into next week’s second leg clash at Olympia.
