The veteran French centre back revealed he wants to follow in the footsteps of former team-mate Frederic Kanoute and move to China considering the money on offer

France international defender Julien Escude has revealed he wants to follow former team-mate Frederic Kanoute to China as he nears the end of his playing career.

The 32-year-old Sevilla centre back said told RMC his objectives were changing as he enters into veteran status, with the money on offer in the emerging Chinese Super League attractive to him.

Escude's Sevilla team-mate Frederic Kanoute penned a deal with Beijing Guoan last month, while the likes of Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Lucas Barrios, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Seydou Keita have all penned lucrative deals with Chinese clubs in recent times.

"I told Fredi that if his club is looking for a central defender, I wanted to continue the adventure with him," Escude told RMC.

"It seems that China is not bad and it pays well... At a certain age, the objectives are different."

However, it seems any Far East move for Escude will have to wait as China's mid-season transfer window closed over the weekend.

Escude, who previously played with Ajax, Rennes and Cannes, made 28 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla last term.
