New Nurnberg signing Hiroshi Kiyotake: The timing of the Olympics is inconvenient

The Japan international was unveiled by the German Bundesliga club on Monday, with boss Dieter Hecking confident he can make the transition as quickly as possible

Newly unveiled Nurnberg signing Hiroshi Kiyotake says he'll show his new club that he warrants a starting place but only after the 2012 London Olympics.

The 22-year-old Japan international, who was unveiled by Nurnberg on Monday after his move from Cerezo Osaka, will be part of his nation's side which competes at the Olympics from July through to August.

Speaking at his unveiling, Kiyotake admitted the timing of the London games wasn't ideal as he tries to settle in at his new club.

"Unfortunately, the date of the Olympic Games is a little inconvenient. But after my return from London I'll show what I can do and push for a regular place," Kiyotake told reporters.

Kiyotake confirmed, however, he was excited by the challenge of trying to break through in Germany having proven himself in Japan's J-League.

"In Japan, I've accomplished something, now I am looking for a new challenge. So I decided to move to Europe," he said.

Meanwhile, Nurnberg boss Dieter Hecking added: "I am glad that the transfer has been completed.

"Kiyo is a good player in one-on-one situations and he exudes goal threat. I hope he manages to make the transition from the Japanese league to the Bundesliga as quickly as possible."
