Lewandowski respects Dortmund's decision not to sell despite Manchester United interest, says agent

The representative has assured that he will not seek to force a summer exit for his client, who himself has cast doubt over his long-term future with the German champions

The agent of Robert Lewandowski has admitted his client is unlikely to be allowed to leave Dortmund, just days after he confirmed Manchester United's interest in the striker.

On Monday, Maik Barthel announced that Lewandowski was on United's radar, and revealed that BVB's proposed offer to extend his contract was not sufficient. But after Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc pledged not to sell any player other than Shinji Kagawa this summer, Barthel has assured that his client will not attempt to force a transfer.

"We acknowledge the interest of Manchester United in Lewandowski. I cannot confirm discussions about the financial terms," he told Goal.com.

"We respect the decision of BVB not to sell Robert."

Lewandowski has become a coveted player among Europe's top teams this season, having scored 30 goals and supplied 12 assists in all competitions. And when asked about Bayern Munich's interest in his services, the player cast doubt over his future at Dortmund.

"Yes, of course I've heard [about Bayern's interest]," Lewandowski told Sport-Bild. "I do not know what will happen in two months. I've also thought, 'What more can I accomplish with Dortmund?' Difficult."

Lewandowski signed for BVB from Lech Poznan in the summer of 2010, and has since won two Bundesliga titles in succession, as well as the DFB-Pokal. His contract is set to expire in 2014.
