Eredivisie Round 34 Results: Goals galore as Feyenoord hold on to second place

Thirty-nine goals were scored in the last round of Eredivisie action, with lowly VVV and De Graafschap picking up surprise wins

AZ 1-0 Groningen
AZ ended the season on a positive note, sealing Europa League qualification with a narrow victory over Groningen. The hosts were reward for their early dominance, with Erik Falkenburg netting the only goal of the game in the 24th minute. Jozy Altidore could have extended his side's lead, while David Texeira and Dusan Tadic both squandered opportunities to draw the visitors level.
VVV 4-2 Twente
Twente capped off a dissappointing season with a shambolic defeat away to VVV, a result which sees relegates them to the Europa League playoffs. Leroy Fer opened the scoring after half an hour, but Yanic Wildschut levelled matters on the stroke of halftime. Nacer Chadli put his side back ahead shortly after the interval, only to see Danny Holla equalise fifteen minutes later. The Tukkers crumbled under a late surge from the hosts, with goals from Steven Berghuis and Michael Uchebo sealing a moralising win for the Venlo side.
ADO 3-5 De Graafschap
An eight goal thriller in The Hague saw De Graafschap pick up a rare victory, a result which will motivate them heading into the relegation playoffs.

The hosts went ahead twice in the first half, first through Charlton Vicento and then through Lex Immers. The visitors were quick to respond on both occassions however, with an own goal from Alexander Radosavlevic and a Michael de Leeuw strike levelling matters.

The second half picked up largely where the first left off, with Lex Immers restoring his side's lead 54 minutes in. Michael de Leeuw was again the Dutchmman's equal however, drawing the visitors level six minutes later.

A late rampage saw the visitors snatch a surprising win, strikes from Gil Vermouth and Soufian El Hassnaoui sealing the victory. The Doetinchem will nonetheless enter the playoffs for relegation, with Excelsior remaining bottom.
Heracles 1-2 NEC
A tepid display saw NEC grab a win on Sunday, with a late goal from the hosts proving nothing more than a consolation strike. Ajax-bound midfielder Lasse Schone opened the scoring from the spot in the 29th minute, before Genero Zeefuik made it two after the interval. Everton pulled one back for Heracles late on, but with nothing left to play for the uninspired Almelo side failed to find an equaliser.
Roda 1-3 Utrecht
Another mid-table encounter which resulted in a win for the visitors, the clash between Roda and Utrecht was of importance only to the hosts.

All goals were netted in the second half, with Alexander Gerndt and Yoshiaki Takagi giving Utrecht the advantage just four minutes after the interval. Roda responded through Sanhalib Malki, but Frank Demouge had the last word for the Domstedelingen in the 86th minute.
Excelsior 1-3 PSV

A comfortable victory against the relegated Excelsior was not enough to lift PSV into the Champions League playoffs, with Feyenoord winning elsewhere.

Dries Mertens and Jeremain Lens handed the Eindhoven side a comfortable lead into the break, before Bruins pulled one back from the spot shortly after the break. The visitors remained unfazed however, restoring their two-goal advantage through Georginio Wijnaldum not long after.

The Philips Stadium outfit will nonetheless enter the Europa League, a competition which they have become familiar with in recent seasons.
Heerenveen 2-3 Feyenoord

Match Report

Vitesse 1-3 Ajax
Champions Ajax completed the season with a 14th consecutive victory, a result largely decided by the hosts profligancy.

The Arnhem side squandered many an opportunity to take the lead in the first half, before Nick Hofs found the breakthrough in the 29th minute. Ajax responded before the break, Dmitri Bulykin netting a header in a rare appearance for the Russian.

The visitors took the initiative in the second half, pulling clear late on. Andre Ooijer finished from close range in the last game of his professional career, before fellow centre-back Jan Vertonghen blasted home a free kick in what will likely be his last appearance for the Amsterdam giants.
NAC 3-2 Waalwijk
An open encounter saw the hosts come away with the win, though neither side managed to qualify for the Europa League playoffs.

Ricky ten Voorde put the visitors ahead just seven minutes in, before Alex Schalk levelled matter from the spot three minutes later. Omer Bayram and Robert Schilder handed the hosts a two goal advantage after the break, before seeing Aaron Meijers pull one back shortly after.
