Catania 0-1 Bologna

Bologna climbed into the top half of the Serie A table with an impressive 1-0 win at league rivals Catania at the Angelo Massimino to extend their unbeaten run to six.

The winning goal came with just 11 minutes of normal time remaining as it was the in-demand Gaston Ramirez who proved decisive with a powerful shot past Juan Pablo Carrizzo for his eighth goal of the season to hand the Rossoblu all three points.

The visitors now leapfrog the Sicilians into ninth place in the standings, while Catania drop to 11th.
Genoa 2-1 Cagliari

Genoa recorded a valuable victory against Cagliari on Wednesday after holding on to a precious 2-1 advantage at the Marassi to keep them afloat in Serie A.

The hosts took the lead inside just 13 minutes through Rodrigo Palacio, who smashed a ball home in the penalty area from a corner, but moments later, Leandro Ariaudo restored parity in the encounter by netting the rebound from Mauricio Pinilla's header.

However, on 79 minutes, Bosko Jankovic stepped off the substitutes' bench to fire a free kick from distance into the back of the net, leaving Sardinians goalkeeper Michel Agazzi helpless and Luigi De Canio with a first victory at the helm.

The win puts Genoa three points clear of Lecce in 18th place with only two games to go, while despite the defeat, Cagliari's six-point gap sees them also look set to survive.

Fiorentina 2-2 Novara

Fiorentina came back from two goals down to register a 2-2 draw with Novara, which sends Attilio Tesser's side back to Serie B after just a season in the Italian top flight.

The dramatic evening began inside 14 minutes through Brazilian striker Jeda, who capitalised on a piece of poor Viola defending after finding himself unmarked in the box. Talisman Marco Rigoni then made it 2-0 from a penalty kick before half-time.

However, Delio Rossi's side looked a changed team after the interval, as just three minutes into proceedings, Giuseppe Gemiti brought down Mattia Cassani in the area. Riccardo Montolivo made sure of the spot kick to make for an exciting match.

With 20 minutes remaining, Montolivo sealed Novara's fate with a sweeping drive from the right-hand side to complete Fiorentina's redemption and put them six points afloat in 15th place.
Lazio 1-1 Siena

Lazio are now without a win in six matches following an underwhelming 1-1 draw with a stubborn Siena at the Olimpico on Wednesday to put their hopes of finishing third in jeopardy.

But it could have been far worse for the Biancocelesti. Mattia Destro put Giuseppe Sannino's men in front after guiding home Andrea Rossi's cross from the left wing for his 11th goal of the season to put the hosts in an uncomfortable position.

However, Francesco Bolzoni felled Antonio Candreva in the box a shade past the hour mark in the second half, allowing Cristian Ledesma to rifle in the penalty and ensure a share of the spoils in the Italian capital.

Siena have secured survival as they find themselves on eight points clear on 44 points with two games left, while Lazio are now two points behind rivals Napoli and Udinese.
Cesena 0-1 Udinese

Udinese's pitch for securing Champions League football next term is well and truly back on as a 1-0 win over already-relegated Cesena puts them neck-and-neck with Napoli in the table.

The all-important winner was scored after just four minutes of play at the Friuli. Giovanni Pasquale's cross into the box found the foot of Danilo in the air, but his failed volley attempt fell to Diego Fabbrini, who made no mistake from a couple of yards out.

The Zebrette saw out the victory and they will now prepare for their final two games of the season against Genoa and Catania.
