Former Barcelona boss Rijkaard lined up by Chivas
The man who led the Blaugrana to Champions League glory in 2006 is currently managing Saudi Arabia but is now set to return to club football in Mexico
Former Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard is reportedly lined up for a move to Chivas. The 49-year-old Dutchman is currently at the helm of the Saudia Arabian national team but, according to sources close to the Mexican outfit, he will now take up residence in Guadalajara - subject to agreeing financial terms.
It is understood that Ronald Koeman and Albert Ferrer, two former Barcelona players, were also in the running for the role.
However, Rijkaard was always the preferred candidate of Blaugrana legend Johann Cruyff, who it was confirmed earlier this week had replaced Rafael Ortega as Chivas' head of sporting operations.
Former Netherlands international Rijkaard won two La Liga titles and one Champions League during his time in charge of Barca before leaving Camp Nou in 2008.
He then had a short spell at the helm of Galatasaray before linking up with Saudi Arabia last year. However, he is now set to return to club management following the country's elimination at the third round of the Asian Football Confederation's qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup.
