Osasuna's Shojaei hoping to be available for Iran's opening fourth round 2014 World Cup qualifiers

The Osasuna midfielder returned to training this week after almost a year out with a foot injury which has required four surgeries
Iran international Masoud Shojaei has returned to Osasuna training after a long spell out with a foot injury and is hopeful of playing in Team Melli's opening fourth round 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

The 27-year-old hasn't played since April last year due to the complicated injury which has required four surgeries to get right.

Shojaei returned to club training this week but was only able to do light jogging and wasn't involved with the main session alongside team-mates.

The Iranian will return to full training in the European summer as he continues to recover from the long-term problem but is hopeful of being part of his nation's opening final round world Cup qualifiers.

“I could not wait to play in La Liga. I will start running within two weeks and I think I can return to pitch in June,” Shojaei said according to the Tehran Times.

Iran play Uzbekistan and Qatar in early June in their opening fourth round 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers while their next match is against Lebanon in September.
