Commentary

FULL TIME - The final whistle sounds, with a collective sigh of relief from the traveling Mariners fans. The Mariners are able to hold on to beat the Reds 2-1, thanks to goals from Ferreira in the first half and a goal from Appiah-Kubi in the second half. However a late goal from O'Doherty for the Reds gave the Mariners a bit of a scare, but they were able to hold on. It is the first time in three years that the Mariners have been able to post back to back victories.
90' + 6' Isaias swings it into the box, but nobody is there for the Reds and that may have been the Reds final chance to score a second goal.
90' + 4' The Reds are full of run, knowing that their time is now, for them to force a draw from what looked like a clear loss about five minutes ago.

90' + 2' GOAL REDS - Marino gives it over to O'Doherty, who takes it inside the box, he switches the ball from his left to right boot, before bending it into the top corner of the net, beating Izzo. The Reds trail 1-2, with enough time left on the clock to win a point from this one.
90' We have five minutes of additional time to play until the final whistle sounds.
89' Should the Mariners not concede a goal, it will be the first time in two years that they will have kept successive clean sheets.
87' A solid challenge by Roux, which the referee has labeled as a bit rough and awards the Reds with a free kick just outside the box. It is taken by Carrusca and Izzo makes a strong save.
85' Berry takes the ball inside the box, he flashes his shot wide of goal and away for a goal kick it goes.
M. Marino
B. Garuccio
Adelaide United
84' SUBSTITUTION REDS - The Reds make their third and final change with Benjamin Garuccio making way for Marc Marino.
83' It looks as though the Mariners have sealed the game, with a 2-0 lead inside the final 10 minutes of the match, it will be hard for the Reds to bring this one back.
A. Berry
Fábio Ferreira
Central Coast Mariners
81' SUBSTITUTION MARINERS - A spent Fábio Miguel Lourenço Ferreira is off the ground, lying down with a wet towel over his head as Adam Berry steps in as his replacement.
K. Appiah-Kubi
Goal
Central Coast Mariners
79' GOAL MARINERS - Appiah-Kubi burns off two Reds defenders in the middle of the ground, he crosses it to Bingham inside the box, his shot on goal takes a deflection, as Appiah-Kubi has it inside the box, he kicks it from right to left and Hall is unable to make the save, as the ball hits the bottom left inside of the net. The Mariners now lead the Reds 2-0.
78' It has been a frustrating second half for the Mariners, with the Reds having most of the play in this second half.
J. Bingham
R. O'Donovan

69' A drinks break is called as players from both teams load up for what should be an exciting final 20 minutes or so.
67' Appiah-Kubi delivers it on a plate for Pain, but he could not keep the ball down enough, putting it over the crossbar.
66' He is on the ground for less than a minute and he is already in the thick of things, as Appiah-Kubi is one on one with Hall and the Reds keeper makes the save.
K. Appiah-Kubi
T. Buhagiar

58' We are heading into the important part of the game, where the timing of substitutions may well have a bearing on the result of this match.
56' It will be interesting as to how Izzo reacts to the first time he is called into action.
54' Play resumes after Izzo gets back to his feet. He will stay on for now. If he succumbs to the injury, we may have an A-League first with both keepers replaced due to injury.
52' McGree plays in Cirio as he smashes the shot right into Izzo's head, making another save, but Izzo looks out of it.

45' We have two minutes of stoppage time to play in the first half.
44' Buhagiar once again is away, as he springs the offside trap, he looks for O'Donovan inside the box, but it is a difficult ball for him to control.
43' The Mariners are away as Buhagiar uses his pace to gather possession, as he offloads to O'Donovan at the edge of the box, but it is well defended by the Reds.
41' The Reds take the ball deep into attack, but it doesn't cause any concern for Izzo, as he comes out and makes the save.
39' The news on Galekovic is not good, as he has torn his lateral muscle in his right shoulder, which certainly sounds like a bit of a spell on the sidelines, for a goal keeper.
Isaías

Fábio Ferreira
Goal
Central Coast Mariners
37' GOAL MARINERS - Pain is one on one with Hall, his shot on goal is blocked by Hall, going to McGowan who kicks it out of the box, but only as far as Ferreira, who slips it past Hall, who was off his line and into the back of the net. The Mariners lead the Reds 1-0.
35' The Reds are just hoarding the ball across the middle of the ground, as they try to mentally out-challenge the Mariners.
33' The Mariners probably have their best chance of the game to score, if they can take the ball into attack and test out Hall, who has not had much time for the Reds in front of goal.
J. Hall
E. Galeković

31' SUBSTITUTION REDS - Eugene Galeković is off and he goes straight down the race, to have his right shoulder looked at, as John Hall takes his place.

25' Play has resumed, as we look forward to at least 20 minutes of play before the half time break.
23' The ref has called for a drinks break, as players from both sides look forward to a refreshing drink, as it is 33 degrees out there at the moment.
21' Montgomery brings in the corner, but it is a low ball as the Reds kick it out to safety and concede another corner.
19' Isaias gathers the ball inside the defensive half and the Reds are away, as they turn defence into attack.
17' The Reds are starting to get on top of the Mariners, as they start to spend some quality time in attack.
15' This is why Montgomery is the captain of the side. He is struggling with an injury, yet he has stayed on the ground, to show his courage to the rest of his team mates.
13' Play has been held up as Montgomery has gone down grabbing his lower leg. He is attended to by the physio. He is going to try and stay out there.

2' Adelaide with the first real foray into attack, as Elrich brings in the ball with a throw in, deep inside the attacking half.
1' FIRST HALF - The Mariners kick off and we are under way.
TEAMS - ADELAIDE UNITED (4-3-3)  STARTING XI - Galekovic (GK) (c); Elrich, La Rocca, McGowan, Marrone; O'Doherty, Isaias, McGree; Garuccio, Cirio, Ochieng.  SUBSTITUTIONS - Hall (GK), Regan, Carrusca, Marino, Makarounas.

The Reds have had a rather forgettable year so far, however a win today will lift them off the bottom of the ladder. However, should the Reds lose, they will be stranded in last position with five points away from second last.
The Mariners are coming off a rare win and today will have the chance to make it two in a row. This is a must win game for the Mariners today, if they are planning to make the finals.
Welcome to GIO Stadium in Canberra for the match between the Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United.
