A-League preview: Brisbane Roar v Adelaide United

The Reds have kept their heads down after controversy engulfed their win over Wellington. The hosts, meanwhile, will be stung after their shock defeat to Western Sydney Indonesia   By WILLIAM VALLELY

Adelaide United will be wary of the wounded animal that is Brisbane Roar when they face the defending champions at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

Brisbane's start to the season - four points from four games - sees Roar languishing towards the bottom of the table, and is a stark contrast to their 100 percent record at the same stage last campaign.

Roar were flat and sloppy in their 1-0 loss to a spirited Western Sydney Wanderers side last Saturday, and coach Rado Vidosic will expect a better performance from his players against A-League pace-setters Adelaide United.

A tumultuous week for Argentine Striker Jeronimo Neumann is expected to be completed with a physical encounter against Roar's defenders in Brisbane.

Neumann was labelled a "cheat" by Wellington Phoenix captain Andrew Durante after his alleged dive that followed contact with Phoenix defender Ben Sigmund at Hindmarsh Stadium last Saturday.

Sigmund was sent off after the incident and Adelaide went on to win the match 3-1, but Neumann's two-goal effort was overshadowed by allegations that continued to rumble on after the game.

Neumann said this week he hoped the media scrutiny surrounding his on-field behaviour would not affect referee's attitudes towards him, while also admitting the allegations had made him nervous.

Rado Vidosic will be glad to call upon Ivan Franjic who has recovered from an abdominal strain, and the right-back will provide Brisbane’s backline with extra movement and experience against a dangerous Reds attacking line-up.

Both squads remain relatively unchanged from last week, and both coaches have close to a full complement of players to choose from.

With the Roar and Neumann both having a point to prove, an entertaining display is expected in Brisbane.
