    José Pinto Colorado

Finally called into action in the second half to make one or two decent saves after seeing virtually no action previously.

  • Carles Puyol

    Carles Puyol

Rarely will Puyol have a quieter game. The veteran defender took care of what little Cordoba could offer, and was never dragged out of his comfort zone.

  • Daniel Alves

    Daniel Alves

Tracked back well to defend the rare Cordoba break, but his outlook was primarily offensive. Often found pushed high up the right flank, and had a few good combinations with Sanchez out wide.

  • Montoya

    3.50

    Montoya

Played in a somewhat unfamiliar role of left-back, but that did not affect his performance as he defended well, and gave his side some good moments in attack when cutting in off the flanks.

  • Javier Mascherano

    Javier Mascherano

Games such as this will never be a true examination of his defensive credentials, but Mascherano acquitted himself well, doing what was required with little fuss.

  • Cesc Fàbregas

    3.50

    Cesc Fàbregas

In the absence of Messi, Cesc took charge of matters in a false 9 role, and performed with distinction. A series of flicks and one-touch passes saw him link superbly with his team-mates, and he was often able to beat his marker with ease.

  • Alex Song

    Alex Song

Provided an immediate outlet for the back for to release the ball, and sprayed quite a few incisive passes forward. One such touch set up Thiago’s opener, and another released Sanchez for a one-on-one with the keeper.

  • Thiago Alcántara

    3.50

    Thiago Alcántara

Scored the first goal of the game with a smart run and cool finished, and could have had a second with a shot from the edge of the area that hit the woodwork. Offered his side a little directness in the centre of the park, and showcased an impressive eye for goal.

  • Sergi Roberto

    Sergi Roberto

Slotted seamlessly into midfield, and appeared perfectly in tune with Barcelona’s passing game. Set up Villa’s second goal with a deft touch under pressure. Unfortunate to depart the match after pulling up with a hamstring injury.

  • David Villa

    David Villa

Gave a virtuoso display of his world-class finishing with a pair of goals of the highest quality. His first was a sublime dribble and finish past two challenges, and his second was a strike of absolute precision. Bench players take note – that is how one stakes a claim for a starting berth.

  • Alexis Sánchez
    14
    6
    3.50

    Alexis Sánchez

Offered his side some vital width on the right, and stretched the Cordoba defence, in turn opening up space in the middle of the park. He should have had a goal in the first half with a deft chip, but Saizar was not falling for it. However, he came good early in the second half with a straightforward header from a corner, and bundled home a late fifth.

Handled his business at the back quietly after coming on.

  • Jonathan Dos Santos

    Jonathan Dos Santos

Performed well off the bench, keeping the momentum of the attack going ,and always looking to drive play forward.

  • Tello

    Tello

Once again, his searing pace proved useful off the bench against tiring defenders.

  • M. Saizar

    M. Saizar

Made some solid saves in the first half, and could not really be blamed for any of Barca’s goals.

  • Fuentes

    Fuentes

More shambolic then Fernandez on the opposite flank, doing nothing to stem the tide of Barca’s dominance.

  • Fernández

    2.00

    Fernández

Made to look a fool by the likes of Villa on multiple occasions, as he was found wanting defensively time and again. Beaten by the Spanish striker in the build up to one of his goals.

  • Armando
    2
    0
    2.00

    Armando

As unconvincing and easily bypassed as the rest of the Cordoba backline, as Barca were able to find space at will.

  • López Garai
    2
    0
    2.00

    López Garai

Overrun in midfield by the movement and drive of the Barca machine. Often spotted running after a Blaugrana player in vain.

  • Carlos Caballero
    2

    2.00

    Carlos Caballero

Conceded the midfield to his opponents today – rarely got on the ball and was made to chase shadows constantly.

  • López SIlva

    3.00

    López SIlva

Mostly isolated and frustrated out on the right wing. But on the rare occasion he managed to get on the ball in the second half, he was able to create some danger.

  • Alberto Aguilar
    2
    0
    2.00

    Alberto Aguilar

Left on his backside by Villa in the build up to the striker’s first goal, and was simply outclassed by the Blaugrana with regularity.

  • Fede

    0
    3.00

    Fede

Barely managed to get on the ball, and was indecisive once in possession for most of the first half, but played a key role in Cordoba's brief second half revival, stretching the defence.

  • Sebastian Dubarbier
    2
    0
    2.00

    Sebastian Dubarbier

A hopeless cause for him on the wings, as there was no service to speak of from his team-mates. Played as an auxiliary defensive midfielder for the most part.

  • Joselu
    2
    0
    2.00

    Joselu

Could not have had more than a handful of touches, as Cordoba’s play rarely extended beyond the halfway line. Simply anonymous.

Substitutions

  • Pedro

    3.00

    Pedro

Offered his side some belated thrust in attack, and was at the end of their first real chance, forcing Pinto to save from close range, Should have made his entrance much earlier.

  • Vincenzo Rennella

    Vincenzo Rennella

Not a whole lot of time to make an impact.
