A spectator in the first half. Called into action shortly after the break as Mame Diouf bore down on goal but came off his line well to steal the ball, before the striker then scored his side's only goal late on.
Superb at the back for the home side. Snuffed out the early danger of Mame Diouf with some timely interceptions. Also posed a threat from set pieces and headed just wide after connecting well with a Reus free kick in the second half.
Confident in the centre of defence alongside Neven Subotic, didn't put a foot wrong all game and even came close to scoring from a corner midway through the first half.
Got forward whenever possible down the right for the home side, and ensured that Hannover left-back Christian Pander had few chances to support his side in attack. A very impressive performance from the defender.
Chipped the ball brilliantly on to the head of Kevin Grosskreutz to help set up the first goal, and put in a typically composed performance in midfield.
Showed a greater hunger for the ball than his midfield opponents, and provided the perfect defensive platform for his side to attack.
Scored a brilliant hat-trick for Dortmund as they romped to victory. Dispatched the first goal of the evening from close range before scoring a fine free kick to make it 3-0 before half-time. A smart volley late on sealed his hat-trick, as the 20-year-old stood out in a fine team performance.
Added a second for Dortmund in the 18th minute, thanks to a fortunate deflection after Ron-Robert Zieler parried the attacker's initial shot back onto him and over the goal line. Displayed remarkable energy levels to hassle Hannover in possession throughout, and was superb with the ball at his feet.
Grabbed the assist for Dortmund's opening goal with a well-weighted headed pass to Mario Gotze. Stood in for the injured Marcel Schmelzer at left-back and was confident in what was an unfamiliar position.
Missed two good chances to score in the opening minutes, but apart from that was unplayable for the home side. His hold-up play was impeccable, and he got a deserved goal late on to make it 5-1.
Provided a sublime assist for Reus' fortunate goal in the 18th minute, slicing the Hannover defence open with a perfect pass to his team-mate. Impressive throughout both on and off the ball.
Brought on in the closing minutes of the match. Played some neat passes in the build-up to Lewandowski's goal.

The former Stuttgart replaced Reus towards the end of the match and put in a decent showing.
Will have felt slightly aggrieved to have conceded so early on, as Ilkay Gundogan appeared to block his attempt to punch Kevin Grosskreutz's header away. Could do little about Reus' fortunate second, before Gotze fooled him with his low free kick just before half-time. Was then beaten from close range by Gotze and Lewandowski late on.
Turned far too easily by Robert Lewandowski as the Polish striker nearly made it 4-0 to Dortmund on the hour mark. Gave away some needless free kicks that invited more pressure on his side, and lost his focus late on as the home side scored twice.
Struggled with the decent build-up play from Lewandowski and the overlapping runs of the trio of attackers supporting him as Dortmund ran riot at the Westfalenstadion.
Tried to slow the pace of the game down with some decent ball retention in the first half, but to no avail. Fouled his way into the referee's notebook with a cynical block on Marco Reus that resulted in Gotze making it 3-0. Taken off in the second half.
Lost possession far too often as Dortmund's midfield showed a greater desire for the ball and controlled the game.
Endured a torrid time during his 30 minutes on the pitch as Dortmund's right side ran riot. Subbed off before half-time for Jan Schlaudraff.
