Samir Handanoviç Top of the Match

Were it not for the Slovenian, Inter may well have been thrashed. He made a number of top saves, particularly in the first half, the pick of which was a tip over the bar from a close range Balotelli header.

  • Javier Zanetti

    Javier Zanetti

The Nerazzurri skipper once again belied his age with a display full of energy and commitment, as his defensive work was a key factor in Inter turning around the game in the second half.

    Andrea Ranocchia

A bit hit or miss at the back, as though he was strong to make some good clearances from dangerous crosses, he was sometimes a step too slow to deal with runners off the ball.

  • Yuto Nagatomo

    Yuto Nagatomo

Had a torrid first half, as Milan found a lot of joy down his flank, and was caught out of position for El Shaarawy’s opener. However, just before he was about to be taken off the pitch, the Japanese came through with a precise cross to find Scheletto for the equaliser.

  • Juan Jesus

    Juan Jesus

Made an absolutely vital block on El Shaarawy, and was often found at the end of a few last-ditch defensive plays in the first half as Inter hung on for dear life.

Ricardo Álvarez Flop of the Match

Handed a surprise start, but the Argentine did little to justify it. He had a fair bit of possession early on, but failed to do anything notable, before drifting from the game completely as time went on.

  • Fredy Guarín

    3.50

    Fredy Guarín

Coughed up the ball once or twice in the first half, but a move centrally after the break benefited him as he was able to give his side a lot of poise and drive on the ball.

  • Esteban Cambiasso

    Esteban Cambiasso

Run a bit ragged during the first period, and though he did not lack for effort, he was rather ungainly in many of his tussles in the middle of the park.

  • Walter Gargano

    Walter Gargano

Failed to adequately protect his defence, with Milan finding all kinds of space around the outskirts of the penalty area during their first half rampage.

  • Rodrigo Palacio

    Rodrigo Palacio

Slightly unlucky not to have won a penalty after Mexes tugged him back inside the box, but he really aided his team after the interval. Became more of a focal point up front, and nearly set up Guarin with a fantastic cross.

  • Antonio Cassano

    Antonio Cassano

Muscled a little too easily off the ball at times, but there were still moments that showcased his sublime first touch and close control.

    Ezequiel Schelotto

As decisive an impact as one could have off the bench. Within minutes of his appearance, he had Inter level with a strong header, and he revitalized his team with his boundless energy in midfield.

  • Zdravko Kuzmanovic

    Zdravko Kuzmanovic

Did not have a whole lot of time to make an impact after making his appearance late on.

  • Christian Abbiati

    Christian Abbiati

Not always busy, but made an excellent save on Guarin's volley. No chance for the goal.

  • Mattia De Sciglio

    Mattia De Sciglio

In a rampaging mood for most of the first half, as he marauded down the left flank time and time again to send a host of convincing deliveries into the area. Had his teammates been more clinical, he could have registered multiple assists.

  • Philippe Mexes

    Philippe Mexes

Though he mistimed his jump slightly for Shceletto's goal, his performance was otherwise sterling. Did well to put Palacio off on what appeared to be a clear sight at goal, and was generally equal to whatever Inter could muster.

  • Cristian Zapata

    3.00

    Cristian Zapata

Not always put to the sternest of tests, but he went about his business professionally, getting first to a lot of crosses and repelling the occasional danger.

  • Ignazio Abate

    3.00

    Ignazio Abate

A lot more reserved in an attacking sense than De Sciglio on the opposite flank, but hardly put a foot wrong at the back. A good game from the full back.

  • Sulley Muntari

    3
    3.00

    Sulley Muntari

Put in a lot of work in midfield, covering every blade of grass and ruffling the feathers of the Inter players with his tenacious tackling. It was one such challenge which won the ball back in the buildup to his side’s opener. He did pick up a yellow card for a moment of over-exuberance, but it was a small infraction on an otherwise solid display.

  • Antonio Nocerino

    Antonio Nocerino

Ran his socks off in midfield, and was always available to link with his teammates or switch the ball quickly across flanks.

  • Kevin-Prince Boateng

    3.50

    Kevin-Prince Boateng

Really found himself at the heart of a lot of good offensive moments for Milan in the first half, as he dovetailed superbly with the likes of El Shaarawy in the attacking third to carve Inter apart multiple times.

  • Riccardo Montolivo

    3.50

    Riccardo Montolivo

With his team in an energetic mood, Montolivo did what he does best, spraying a number of incisive passes to take advantage of the lively movement in front of him.

  • Mario Balotelli

    Mario Balotelli

On another day, Balotelli could, and should have had a hat-trick. But through his own profligacy and the brilliance of Handanovic, he was kept off the scoresheet in what ended up being a frustrating outing.

  • Stephan El Shaarawy
    12

    4.00

    Stephan El Shaarawy

Stretched the defence time and time again with his ability to run in behind. and opened to scoring with an explosive finish. He kept the backline on its toes with some blistering movement on and off the ball.

Given a late run out, but did not contribute much.
