A-League preview: Central Coast Mariners v Adelaide United
It is the battle of the top two at Bluetongue Stadium, but it will be the hosts who come into the match in far more confidence than the visiting Reds
CENTRAL COAST MARINERS
Bojic, Sainsbury, Zwaanswijk, Rose
Montgomery, Hutchinson, McGlinchey
Caceres, McBreen, Sterjovski
Bowles, Golec, Boogaard, Cassio
Barbiero, Malik, WatsonKostopoulos, Neumann, Ramsay
Central Coast remain in first place despite consecutive draws, while United missed the opportunity to join them at the summit after going down to Melbourne Heart at AAMI Park last Friday.
While the Mariners boast a good overall record against United, their recent form is even stronger, with six wins on the bounce as part of an nine-match unbeaten run that dates back to 2009.
Josh Rose and Nick Montgomery were on target at Bluetongue Stadium last time the sides met, as Central Coast came from behind to secure a 2-1 win and leapfrog Adelaide into top spot.
The Mariners have coach Graham Arnold back on the touchline after his one-match ban was served, but they will not have the services of Tom Rogic again after the talented playmaker sealed his move to Celtic. With Rogic securing a work permit for his move to Scottish giants Celtic, Anthony Caceres appears to have been anointed as his successor.
Caceres, 20, started in last week's 0-0 stalemate with Newcastle and is expected to be given another opportunity against the Reds.
Bernie Ibini returns to the squad after completing his trial with Belgium outfit Club Brugge, while Nick Fitzgerald joins him among the inclusions after his release from Brisbane Roar was agreed early.
For the Reds, Nigel Boogaard returns to defence in place of the rested Iain Fyfe, while playmaker Marcelo Carrusca returns from injury and will take the place of Zenon Caravella - newly signed to the Newcastle Jets - among the substitutes.
Bruce Djite again misses due to injury, which will come as some good news for the Mariners defence.Jeronimo Neumann played as the only recognised striker last week but was brought off in the second half, leaving the Reds stretched without a target man. It will only make United's task harder against the hosts' stiff rearguard.
