    Joe Hart

Not the busiest of afternoon's for the City goalkeeper but he did make a wonderful full-stretch save to deny Santi Cazorla - only to see Koscielny fire home from the resulting corner.

  • Vincent Kompany

    Vincent Kompany

The City captain led by example at the back. Strong in the tackle, made some important interceptions and clearances, and was comfortable on the ball.

  • Pablo Zabaleta

    Pablo Zabaleta

Typically committed performance from the Argentine right-back, although he didn't offer his usual energy as an attacking outlet in the final third.

  • Joleon Lescott

    2.50

    Joleon Lescott

Justified his start as he rose high above Mannone to head home the opener in the 40th minute. Strong in the air defensively but caught out a couple of times, especially when outmuscled by Jenkinson in the first-half.

    Gael Clichy

Lucky not to be punished in the first-half when caught ball-watching and Gervinho went through on goal, but an assured display against his former club.

  • Scott Sinclair

    Scott Sinclair

Worked hard on both flanks but appeared to lack the confidence to take on his man, especially as Jenkinson would have been targeted as a weakness in the Arsenal defence. Replaced at half-time in a tactical reshuffle.

  • Javi García

    Javi García

The Spaniard provided an effective screen for the back four, sitting deep in midfield and trying to restrict Cazorla's influence on the game.

  • David Silva

    22
    3.00

    David Silva

On the fringes of the action in the first 45 minutes - despite taking the corner for Lescott's goal - but was superb after the re-start. Picked the ball up in space, drove at the Arsenal defenders and played some inch-perfect passes.

  • Yaya Touré

    Yaya Touré

As ever, his physical power and technical skill worried Arsenal, particularly in the second-half when he was given more freedom to get forward.

  • Edin Dzeko

    2.50

    Edin Dzeko

The Bosnian's overall play was good as he dropped off into the hole and drifted out wide off Aguero. Not involved in many scoring chances before being replaced by Tevez in the 68th minute.

  • Sergio Agüero
    8
    22
    2.50

    Sergio Agüero

Worked hard on his return to the starting line-up, but lack of sharpness showed in the final third. Forced Mannone into a good save in the first-half after cutting inside and shooting low from the edge of the penalty area - and should have had a penalty after the break but tried to stay on his feet under a challenge from Koscielny.

Tidy display after replacing Sinclair at half-time, taking up good tactical positions.

    Carlos Tévez

Replaced Dzeko in the 68th minute but didn't have much of an impact. Misplaced a couple of passes and didn't seem on the same wavelength as team-mates.

  • Mario Balotelli

    17

    Mario Balotelli

Came on for Aguero five minutes from time to no effect.

  • Vito Mannone

    11

    Vito Mannone

The Italian got stuck in no-man's land as he unconvincingly attempted to claim Silva's corner only for Lescott to head the opener for City. Reacted positively, denying Dzeko with a fingertip save before producing a solid second-half performance, making a great save off Kompany late on.

  • Per Mertesacker

    Per Mertesacker

City tried to expose the German defender's lack of pace but he handled Aguero well and was dominant in the air.

  • Laurent Koscielny

    Laurent Koscielny

Perhaps lucky not to concede a penalty after tangling with Aguero in the second-half but his reading of the game was good on the whole. On hand to lash home the equaliser in the 82nd minute.

  • Carl Jenkinson
    30
    10

    Carl Jenkinson

The full-back coped admirably with City's attack with a spirited, disciplined performance. Also offered a threat going forward and set up an excellent opportunity for Podolski in the first-half.

  • Kieran Gibbs
    25
    8
    2.50

    Kieran Gibbs

Good defensively and often looked to make runs for team-mates, offering an outlet on the left side.

  • A. Diaby
    24
    15
    2.00

    A. Diaby

Faded from prominence after a bright start. Never really made his mark on the game and didn't break from midfield before being replaced by Giroud in the 71st minute.

  • Mikel Arteta
    33
    5
    3.00

    Mikel Arteta

The Spaniard constantly received possession and looked to start Arsenal attacks with accurate passing. Good interplay with Cazorla and Ramsey, particularly in the first-half, as he had to handle Toure's more advanced role after the break.

  • Aaron Ramsey
    28
    3
    3.50

    Aaron Ramsey

Staked a claim for a regular place in the side with a very classy display on his first start of the season. Mainly played on the right but popped up everywhere and played some incisive passes, not least one that put Gervinho through on goal in the first-half.

  • Santi Cazorla
    35
    5
    4.00

Santi Cazorla Top of the Match

The diminutive midfielder is already such an important player for the Gunners. At the heart of all of the visitors' best play as he drifted around the pitch looking to open up the City defence with intelligent movement and passing. Stinging strike from 25 yards forced the corner from which Koscielny equalised.

  • Lukas Podolski
    25
    9
    2.50

    Lukas Podolski

Offered good balance on the left side of the attack. Should have done better in the first-half but blasted over the bar with his weaker right foot from the edge of the penalty box. Replaced by Walcott in the 72nd minute.

  • Gervinho
    15
    27

    Gervinho Flop of the Match

The Ivorian's movement was lively but he struggled to find space to threaten the City defence. When he did evade their attention, in the first-half, his first touch was far too heavy when he would have been through on goal.

Substitutions

    Theo Walcott

Offered width but no end product after replacing Podolski in the 72nd minute.
