Brazil's assistant coach says the Selecao's Brasil Global Tour date vs Uruguay will allow him to recall a special time in life

Former Arsenal defender Sylvinho says Brazil’s trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Uruguay on November’s Brasil Global Tour will bring back great memories of his time with the club.

The former Gunner is now assistant to Selecao coach Tite, who is preparing for his final international dates of the calendar year as the five-time world champions work towards next year’s Copa America.

And Sylvinho insists the Selecao’s return to London will allow him to recall a ‘special’ period in his life.

“Back in 1999 I was the first Brazilian athlete signed by Arsenal,” he said.

“When I first got there, it was very clear to me that it was a great challenge and a great responsibility to bring with me all my previous professional knowledge like my four years at Corinthians, and to be able to break some barriers and play in a club as important as Arsenal.

“I was happy, and it was a very special two-year period of my life.

“Now my travels around stadiums are as a staff member, which is a little different.

“But it will be great too, to be able to go back to a stadium, even if it's not at Highbury, it will be very interesting.

“And I'd like to leave an invitation to all that can come and watch Brazil vs Uruguay at the Emirates stadium. You will really enjoy a great match, I have no doubt.”

Brazil take on Uruguay in an international friendly at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, 16 November, KO 8pm. Tickets from £30 Adult/£15 Under 16 at www.arsenal.com/brauru2018
