The Santos playmaker has inherited Neymar's shirt number for the tournament which will see Gil take David Luiz' No. 4 and Jonas wear the No. 9
Lucas Lima will wear the famous No. 10 shirt for Brazil at June’s Copa America Centenario, the CBF confirmed on Tuesday.
The Santos playmaker inherits the number from captain Neymar, who is sitting out of the tournament in order to lead Brazil’s quest for gold at August’s Rio games.
Benfica striker Jonas, a late replacement for the injured Ricardo Oliveira, will wear the No. 9 jersey while Gil will take the No. 4 previously reserved for David Luiz.
The numbers will be worn for the first time on Sunday when the Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour pits Dunga’s side against Panama at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park outside of Denever, Colorado.
Brazil have been drawn in Group B of the Copa America Centenario alongside alongside Haiti, Ecuador and Peru.
