One of the Selecao's all-time greats would love nothing more than to see Scolari's side meet their great rivals at the Maracana on July 13Former Brazil international Zico says he is hoping to see Brazil face off against Argentina in the World Cup final at the Maracana on July 13.
The former Flamengo star, who appeared at three World Cups while earning his 71 caps for the Selecao, believes Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side are in good shape ahead of the tournament, which this year returns to Brazil for the first time since 1950.
And the 61-year-old Zico believes a meeting with their great rivals would be the perfect way for the Selecao to claim their sixth world title.
“Scolari is doing a great job. I am very confident that the team can bring another title to the country,” Zico told an even in Sao Paulo.
“Our great adversary is Argentina. They mainly rely on Messi, who is the big name in world football. I do not expect to see an underdog challenge for the tournament.
"I think that would be the ideal final would be between Brazil and Argentina.”
Brazil kick off their World Cup campaign against Croatia in Sao Paulo on June 12. Scolari will name his final 23-man squad for the tournament on May 7.
