The Brazil coach says he has already settled on 90% of his final 23-man World Cup squad but is working from a sizeable shortlist ahead of the announcement on May 7Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari says he is currently working from a list containing as many as 50 names as he prepares to announce his final 23-man World Cup squad on May 7.
An additional seven players will be placed on standby and Felipao revealed earlier this month that he is already settled on around 90% of those who will make up the group.
And with less than seven weeks until his squad his announced, Scolari has called on everyone in contention to remain focused.
“A long time ago we drew up a list of five names beyond the 45 we already had, so we are now following the progress of 50 players,” he told CBF TV.
"Everyone has their preference for who should be called. Our fans know that I will choose the names on May 7 and that until then, I ask that all the players continue working hard."
The Selecao will make their final preparations for the World Cup when the Gillette Brasil Global Tour arrives back in Brazil for games against Panama and Serbia on June 2nd and 5th respectively.
