The Selecao will continue their Gillette Brasil Global Tour with a clash against Bafana Bafana at Soccer City on March 5The Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) and the South African Football Association (SAFA) have confirmed that Brazil will meet South Africa March 5 in Johannesburg.
The match will take place at 19:00 local time at the First National Bank Stadium at Soccer City, site of the opening and final matches of World Cup 2010.
The Selecao will arrive in Joburg riding high on a run of six consecutive victories, though South Africa have momentum of their own after beating reigning world champions Spain 1-0 at the same stadium last month.
Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund has expressed his delight at the chance to test his side against the five-time world champions.
"In my opinion, Brazil is one of the greatest teams of all time," said Igesund.
"This is a huge game for us, good for the country and players. We have just beaten Spain and we want to give a good account of ourselves against the in-form Brazilians. To have them here as part of their preparations for the 2014 World Cup shows the amount of respect they have for us.”
The match will be the Selecao’s final friendly before Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari announces his final World Cup squad.
It will also be something of a homecoming for current Technical Director Carlos Alberto Parreira who twice coached South Africa.
